I Hate October

Take away the sherbert trees and the pumpkin spice cold brews, and October is nothing but a sorry excuse for a month. Sure, it marks the start of the holiday season, but for some reason, it also marks the start of my yearly funk. Now, I'm just pissed, tired and cold all the time. The dry cold causes my skin to ignore all skincare products and renders my face not safe for public viewing. I've never enjoyed this time of year. Sure, the Halloween parties in college were okay, but for the sake of humanity, why can't we just get drunk in slutty dark angel outfits on Father's Day? Then we can associate that day with good memories, instead of the standard boring trauma.

Boots in Texas

"If you wore those in a church, it'd be considered disrespectful."

Hello there, weary traveler! Looks like you need fresh attire to look the part.

No, we will not sell you pointed-toe boots. Those aren't for men. They may look fancy, but here in the great state of Texas, we wear square-toe. It's comfortable, stylish, and sets us apart from the feminine style. Even if you want that style of boot, this establishment will not be held responsible for the southern belles' look of displeasure when they see you walking the streets of Uptown Dallas. Those nightwalkers in Deep Ellum may not care, but you don't want one of those now, do you, son?

Don't Be Rash Now

When things aren't working out, my natural reaction is to get up and go. What would happen if I stayed? Will things finally work out then? I follow opportunity, but for the first time ever, I'm in the best situation I can be in. Which means, I'm stuck. Not the best feeling, but it's better than being stuck in a bad situation. I just want things to be better. Better as in living comfortably. I know it's okay to be somewhat uncomfortable, for things seem to be trending downward. Not just for me, but for everyone else, too. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but the race between freedom and overwhelm is too close to call. Do I tap out? Or do I stay in the ring just a bit longer? Who knows, but it's time I get a win.
